South Africa set Australia a target of 81 runs to win their second Twenty20 international match, which has been shortened to seven overs a side due to rain.

South Africa have set Australia a target of 81 runs to win a rain-hit second Twenty20 international this evening.

The match eventually got underway after similar weather troubles that blighted the first T20 match before it was eventually abandoned.

With just seven overs apiece to play, South Africa were first in to bat and suffered an early setback when Hashim Amla was caught and bowled for four by Nathan Coulter-Nile.

The Aussies held South Africa to just 11 runs in the opening three overs, but Quinton de Kock soon set about upping that run rate, hitting Shane Watson for consecutive boundaries on the way to 14 runs in an expensive fourth over.

Things got even better for the Proteas in the next over as Faf du Plessis followed up a four with back-to-back sixes, extending his side's score to 43-1.

De Kock and du Plessis soon brought up their 50 partnership as they began to dominate the Australian bowling attack, eventually ending South Africa's seven-over salvo on 80-1.
