Bangladesh have moved to within 69 runs of South Africa on day two of the first Test in Chittagong.
Starting the day on seven without loss, the hosts battled to 179-4 at stumps thanks to half-centuries from Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah.
Bangladesh got off to a shaky start in the morning as Imrul Kayes (26) and Mominul Haque (six) were dismissed early on by Stiaan van Zyl and Simon Harmer respectively to leave the home side on 80-2 at lunch.
Another wicket fell during the afternoon session when Tamim Iqbal was sent packing by Dean Elgar after making 57 off 129 balls. His departure put Bangladesh on 153-3 at tea.
There was less attacking play from the hosts when the action resumed, though they found themselves four wickets down in the 67th over as Mahmudullah fell victim to Vernon Philander for 67.
Mushfiqur Rahim (16*) and Shakib Al Hasan (1*) both took up the fight at the crease during the final stages of the day, but persistent rain saw play ended early.
