Mohammad Hafeez starred with bat and ball as he propelled Pakistan to a six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the first one-day international in Dambulla.
The tourists won the toss and elected to field, but an unbeaten Dinesh Chandimal with 65 from 68 balls helped Sri Lanka to reach 255-8 off their 50 overs.
He was ably supported by Angelo Matthews, who hit 38 and put on a fifth-wicket partnership of 89 with Chandimal.
However, the hosts' innings was also the platform for the return to form with the ball of Hafeez, who took 4-41 in his 10 overs to derail Sri Lanka's attack.
Hafeez then made 103 from 95 balls before he was caught and bowled by Thisara Perera, but by then the damage was done.
Shoaib Malik picked up where Hafeez left off, hitting four fours and two sixes to post 55 as Pakistan reached 259-4 to win with 28 balls remaining.
