Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes score centuries as Bangladesh close day four of the first Test against Pakistan unscathed on 273, just 23 runs behind the lead.

Bangladesh have dominated day four of the first Test against Pakistan courtesy of centuries from Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes, which has left their nation 273 without loss in the second innings.

The hosts have restricted their opponents' lead to just 23 after starting the day 205 runs off the pace.

In the morning session, Pakistan were bowled all out for 628, with Taijul Islam taking a haul of six wickets during the first innings.

In reply, Iqbal survived an early lbw call from Junaid Khan and went on to dominate the attack and frustrate Pakistan's bowlers, including Khan, Yasir Shah, Zulfiqar Babar and Wahab Riaz.

Both Iqbal and his batting partner Kayes secured half-centuries as they reached tea unscathed on 142 runs, but they continued to add to their tally by claiming the highest ever first-wicket stand for Bangladesh.

Iqbal reached a personal milestone by becoming the first batsman for his nation to score seven Test centuries, while Kayes also scored a 100 on the field in Khulna.

The close of play has left Iqbal and Kayes unbeaten on 138 and 132 runs respectively.
