India reduce South Africa to 11-2 at the close of play on day one of the third Test in Nagpur, having been bowled out for 215 earlier in the day.

India have been bowled out for 215 on the first day of the third Test against South Africa, although they have made an early breakthrough with the ball.

India made a poor start to the Test match after winning the toss and elected to bat, losing six wickets in the morning and afternoon sessions in Nagpur.

Virat Kohli's men began the evening session on 149-6, but they only added a further 24 runs before another wicket fell, as Ravindra Jadeja was clean bowled by Kagiso Rabada for 24.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Wriddhiman Saha took India past 200 before the latter was caught out by JP Duminy off the bowling of Simon Harmer while on 32. They were soon nine down when Imran Tahir bowled Ashwin out for 15, and then Harmer claimed the last wicket as he trapped Amit Mishra lbw.

South Africa's hopes of chasing down the Indian total took an early blow as Stiaan van Zyl was dismissed for a duck in the third over, giving Ashwin his first wicket of the Test.

Imran Tahir replaced him in the middle but he lasted just 12 balls as Jadeja bowled him out for four, leaving the Proteas on 9-2.

Hashim Amla joined Elgar at the crease, but the pair added just two further runs to the score before the day's play came to end, meaning that South Africa will resume on day two on 11-2.
