West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul has been sent for a scan following a complaint of soreness in his side.
Day one of the Windies' third Test against England at Edgbaston was called off on Thursday due to heavy rain.
"Shiv went to hospital for a scan," said a team spokesman. "A day off gives him a chance to see how well he goes."
The tourists are looking to avoid a series whitewash following defeats in the previous two Tests.
