Here, Sports Mole looks at the head-to-head record and past meetings between Man United and Leicester.

Head-to-head record

Previous meetings: 139
Man Utd wins: 72
Draws: 31
Leicester wins: 36

A hotly-contested fixture in the Premier League over recent years, it is not a surprise to see that Manchester United have the historical bragging rights over Leicester.

From their 139 competitive meetings, the Red Devils have triumphed on 72 occasions, with the most recent of those coming in November 2024, when Ruud van Nistelrooy's side recorded a 3-0 win over the Foxes in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

The first official match between the two clubs occurred in September 1894, with Newton Heath securing the points from a five-goal thriller versus Leicester Fosse.

Arguably the highest-profile match involving the clubs, the Red Devils and the Foxes faced off in the final of the FA Cup in 1963, when English legends were on both sides of the pitch in the form of Man United's Bobby Charlton and Leicester's Gordon Banks, who conceded three goals as Sir Matt Busby's men lifted the trophy.

Wembley in its current form hosted the 2016 FA Community Shield between the two outfits, with efforts from academy graduate Jesse Lingard and Zlatan Ibrahimovic sealing a 2-1 victory over Claudio Ranieri's Premier League-winning Leicester.

The Foxes last tasted success at the Theatre of Dreams in May 2021, when goals either side of the half-time whistle from Luke Thomas and Caglar Soyuncu stole the show for the visitors.
