Brian Lara believes that changes must be made to the West Indies Cricket Board to ensure the team are successful.

Brian Lara has claimed that there must be changes made to the West Indies Cricket Board to help the nation's cricketers return to the top of the sport.

There have been regular problems between players and West Indies officials in recent years, and legendary batsman Lara is certain that addressing the problems is a necessity if they are to build a successful team across all formats.

"For me, West Indies' problems don't lie with the players," Lara told reporters. "It's far deeper than that, with the organisation, what they are doing to enhance our cricket from a very low level.

"You look at some of our players, they are the most sought-after players in the IPL - the likes of Sunil Narine, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard - why as a team you can't put it together?

"I believe the structure they are playing in, away from home, seems to be a little more organised than what they are accustomed to."

The West Indies begin a tour of India next month, playing five one-day internationals, one Twenty20 game, and two Test matches.
