The West Indies are into the World Twenty20 semi-finals with an 84-run victory over Pakistan.

The West Indies have reached the World Twenty20 semi-finals with an 84-run win over Pakistan in Dhaka.

The Windies, who will now face Sri Lanka, won the toss and made 166-6 before Pakistan were bowled out for 82 with around two overs remaining.

Disappointing scores of eight and five respectively from Dwayne Smith and Chris Gayle provided a disappointing start at the crease, but Lendl Simmons (31) and Marlon Samuels (20) were able to push their team's score up.

Dwayne Bravo (46) and Darren Sammy (42 not out) then provided a late flurry as the West Indies scored 82 runs from their final five overs.

Mohammad Hafeez, Sohail Tanvir, Zulfiqar Babar and Shahid Afridi shared the four wickets between them for Pakistan.

Consecutive ducks for openers Ahmed Shehzad and Kamran Akmal saw Pakistan struggle out in the middle early on, but Mohammad Hafeez was able to make 19 runs before he was dismissed by Andre Russell.

However, the wickets of Umar Akmal (1) and Shoaib Malik (2) left the Pakistanis on 37-5 after 10 overs.

Sohaib Maqsood (18), Shahid Afridi (18) and Sohail Tanvir (14) put up some resistance with the bat in the middle order, though it was not enough to see their side through to the last four.

Samuel Badree and Sunil Narine claimed three wickets each for the West Indies, while Krishmar Santokie and Andre Russell both ended with two wickets apiece.
