Team Australia cyclist Alex Edmondson has admitted that he was "beaten by a better bike rider" in the final of the individual pursuit this evening.
Edmondson was forced to settle for a silver medal at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, finishing just under five seconds behind compatriot, "idol" and defending Commonwealth Games champion Jack Bobridge.
The 20-year-old acknowledged that there was a tinge of disappointment having missed out on the top prize, but he is still delighted to have picked up an individual medal in Glasgow.
"To come here and win a silver medal is unbelievable. Of course it's nice to try to win the gold, but I left everything out there on the track and there's not much more I can do," Edmondson told Sports Mole.
"I've been beaten by a better bike rider. Jack's the word record holder, and he just showed the pure class that he is."
Edmondson rode alongside Jack Bobridge last night as Australia won gold in the team pursuit.
