Team England rider Andy Tennant admits that he is "disappointed" with his performance in the individual pursuit at the Commonwealth Games today.

Team England cyclist Andy Tennant has admitted that he was "frustrated" by his performance in qualifying for the individual pursuit at the Commonwealth Games today.

Tennant narrowly missed out on a medal race at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome as Australia's Alex Edmondson and New Zealand's Marc Ryan both posted faster times over 4,000m in the final heat to relegate him to fifth in qualifying.

The 27-year-old believes that he was capable of claiming a medal on the day, but admitted that he got his tactics wrong in Glasgow.

"[I'm] mainly just frustrated. I think there was a bronze medal ride there for sure if I had paced it slightly better," Tennant told Sports Mole.

"It's difficult after a team pursuit day. Your legs are hurting anyway and finding that pace - the conditions obviously were slow in here. You can see that by the fact that a world record holder [Jack Bobridge] 4:10 is only doing 4:19 - it's not fast in here.

"I tried to ride a pace that wasn't quite achievable and I tried to push on, and that bit me in the last six laps. I lost what I gained. I'm pleased and I'm upset at the same time, but it is what it is now so onwards and upwards."

Tennant has already won a silver medal on the track at the Games, having been part of the team that lost out on gold to Australia in the team pursuit last night.
