Team England cyclist Andy Tennant praises the atmosphere at British venues having picked up a silver at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow yesterday.

Team England rider Andy Tennant has praised the atmosphere at British venues following his performances at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

A number of cyclists have already lauded the noise inside the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, which is the venue for track cycling at this summer's Games.

Despite Scotland and England having a storied rivalry, the crowd has been fully behind the home nations throughout the opening two days of action, and Tennant believes that the attitude to cycling in Britain is second to none.

"[The atmosphere] seems really good. Britain as whole - when we were doing Manchester World Cup, London World Cup and Glasgow back in 2012 - the atmosphere that we always have in Britain is fantastic," the 27-year-old told Sports Mole.

"It just goes to show the support that Britain has for cycling compared to the other World Cups. You have a full stadium and people are trying to get tickets and they're sold out in 10 minutes, whereas you can go somewhere in Mexico and there might be one man and his dog unfortunately.

"[It's a] fantastic crowd here, fantastic atmosphere and the Games have put on a fantastic event. All respect to them, it's done all credit for Glasgow."

Tennant picked up a silver medal in the team pursuit last night, but narrowly missed out in the individual event today.
