England have taken the first Para-sport gold of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, courtesy of Sophie Thornhill and Helen Scott's triumph in the tandem sprint.
The pair finished comfortably ahead of Scotland's Aileen McGlynn and Louise Haston, who took silver at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome - Scotland's first medal on their home turf.
The first gold-medal race between the cross-border rivals saw England come out on top with a time of 12.021s, while the second encounter saw them record a narrowly slower time of 12.319s.
Meanwhile, Felicity Johnson and Holly Takos of Australia took bronze ahead of compatriots Brandie O'Connor and Breanna Hargreave.
