Great Britain's Sir Bradley Wiggins was forced to settle for a silver medal in the men's individual time trial at the Road World Championships.
Wiggins, who had previously stated his eagerness to win gold, set a time of 1:06:22 on the Tuscany course.
However, it did not prove to be quick enough as defending champion Tony Martin finished in a time of 1:05:36 - 46 seconds ahead of the Brit.
Two seconds behind Wiggins was Switzerland's Fabian Cancellara, who claimed the bronze medal.
Meanwhile, Wiggins's fellow countryman, Alex Dowsett, could only finish 41st.
