Alberto Contador has begun treatment in Madrid on his fractured tibia as he targets a return to cycling at next month's Vuelta a Espana.
The Tinkoff-Saxo rider suffered the injury after a heavy crash on stage 10 of the Tour de France and was forced to retire.
"Alberto Contador chose the Clinica Centro after contacting Real Madrid FC and more specifically Emilio Butragueno, with whom he enjoys a good relationship," his spokesman said in a statement.
Team Sky's Chris Froome, who was forced to retire from the Tour de France through injury after crashing twice on stage five, is also expected to return at the Vuelta.
