Sir Bradley Wiggins admits that he may stop competing in the Tour de France after this year's race.

Sir Bradley Wiggins has revealed that this year's Tour de France could mark the end of his association with the prestigious race.

Wiggins, who won the race in 2012, has admitted that he may pay more attention to racing on the track as he looks to add to his seven Olympic medals in Rio in 2016.

"After the Tour de France, we're 18 months out from the Olympics and that's really when you've got to get back on the [track] programme," the 33-year-old told Cyclingnews.com. "It could be that this is my last Tour. If it is, I'd better make it a good one.

"It's likely I'll be on Team Sky for the next couple of years, even if I'm on the track programme, because that's what the team was created for - to help the track guys.

"But in what capacity I will race could change drastically as I put on more weight for the track and specialise for it."

Team Sky are looking for their third successive victory in the Tour de France following Chris Froome's triumph last year.
