Triple Olympic champion Bradley Wiggins will wear the yellow jersey into a third day as he extended his overall lead in the Tour de France to almost two minutes.
Wiggins won stage nine with a time of 51 minutes 24 seconds to increase his lead from 10 seconds to 1min 53s, making him the favourite to win the Tour de France.
Speaking to French television, Wiggins said: "I felt at home. I'm very happy. It was not an easy course, with lots of corners, few hills and a technical finish.
"We've been doing this kind of thing for 10 years, winning gold medals at it. The track is my school, the individual pursuit, I've done lots of kilometres in this position since I was a kid."
Wiggins yesterday hit out at rumours linking his good form with questions of doping.
