Gary Anderson believes that Phil Taylor is still producing some of his best darts despite the 16-time world champion dropping out of the top four in the Premier League table.

Taylor needs to win his final two fixtures to remain in the hunt for a playoff spot, and Anderson, who defeated the Stoke-on-Trent thrower in the World Championship final in January, has insisted that he will only beat his rival with a high-quality display.

The 44-year-old told PDC.tv: "I know what I'm up against playing Phil and I've got to be at the top of my game.

"Even though he's not got the results recently, he's still been playing really well, and the standard is so high now that the line between winning and losing is so fine.

"I know that it's still in my hands for the playoffs but I can't get too far ahead of myself and I can only focus on Phil."

Anderson will secure his place in the playoffs if he prevails in Newcastle.
