Gary Anderson sends out warning to semi-final opponent Michael van Gerwen

Gary Anderson warns Michael van Gerwen that he had "better be ready to play" after edging out countryman Peter Wright to set up a meeting with the Dutchman.

Gary Anderson has admitted that he was relieved to see off fellow countryman Peter Wright to book his place in the semi-finals of the PDC World Championship last night.

The 44-year-old dropped just one set as he eased past 2014 finalist Wright 5-1 to set up a rematch with world number one Michael van Gerwen.

Van Gerwen got the better of Anderson when the pair last met in the third round of the showpiece competition 12 months ago, although the Scot is confident that he can now avenge that defeat on the biggest stage of them all.

"I seemed to be in control for most of the match, but I missed a few doubles and let Peter back into the game a bit," he told pdc.tv. "It seemed like I was giving legs away at times so I was pleased to get over the line in the end.

"I'll need to play well against Michael to beat him but he'll need to play well to beat me as well. He's the World Champion so all the pressure will be on him, and I'll just go up there and play my game. He'd better be ready to play because I'll be right behind him!"

Phil Taylor, Vincent van der Voort, Stephen Bunting and Raymond van Barneveld will contest the other two quarter-final ties this evening.
