Gary Anderson has been dumped out of the PDC World Championship at the second-round stage by an inspired Jeffrey de Graaf.

In the opposite side of the draw to Luke Humphries and Luke Littler, Anderson had been fancied to reach the final as he bid to win a third world title.

That will not be the case, however, after the Scot was whitewashed by De Graaf in a sensational showing where the Swedish representative hit 75% of his doubles.

Each of the opening three legs featured 100+ checkouts as De Graaf took it 3-1, and doubles would haunt Anderson in the second as he failed to hit any of his 11 attempts.

An efficient De Graaf stepped in to move a set away from a famous triumph before fending off an improving Anderson - who averaged in excess of 101 in the third set - to take the match with a 76 checkout in the deciding leg.

What else happened on Sunday night?

De Graaf now finds himself playing for a last-16 spot against Paolo Nebrida after the Philippines representative pulled off the shock of the tournament in thrashing Ross Smith.

Like Anderson, Smith squandered an array of opportunities at double, hitting just six of his 26 attempts when Nebrida incredibly converted nine of his 11 efforts.

Nebrida posted checkouts of 120 and 118 along the way as he claimed his nation's most significant win in the sport.

In the first match of the night, Martin Schindler missed double 12 for a nine-darter in the opening set of his match with Callan Rydz before losing 3-0.

Although the pair missed 54 darts between them, Rydz hit nine of his attempts in comparison to three for Schindler to set up a meeting with Dimitri van den Bergh

The Belgian averaged 96 and hit six 180s on the way to a 3-0 victory over Dylan Slevin, who took every set to a deciding leg.
