Gerwyn Price has cruised to a 16-8 victory against Peter Wright to win the Grand Slam of Darts title.

While Price has not always played his best darts in Wolverhampton, however the world number one capped a fine run from the quarter-finals onwards to easily see off Wright.

The Welshman dominated from start to finish on Sunday night, winning both of the first two sessions to establish a 7-3 advantage.

Three more legs on the spin realistically left Wright at the point of no return, and Price never came under pressure as he reached the fourth break with a 14-6 lead.

In a remarkable act of defiance, Wright took out 86 and 155 to keep the match alive, but Price eventually got over the line after previously missing four match darts.

Earlier in the day, Price dominated his last-four encounter with James Wade, prevailing 16-9, before Wright reeled off eight straight legs to beat Michael Smith by a 16-8 scoreline. body check tags ::
