Robbie Green believes that he could have missed out on a place in the second round of the Grand Slam of Darts had he not finished 170 in the deciding leg against Vincent van der Voort.
The BDO representative had let slip a 4-1 lead as well as missing four match darts but he controlled the final leg before recording the maximum checkout with his opponent left on 245.
The 40-year-old told PDC.tv: "I thought that I was going to throw it away and I'm disappointed that I didn't finish the game earlier.
"I'm absolutely made up to have qualified, and the 170 was a great way to do it, but if I'd missed the bull, I might well have messed up my chance.
"To win a game like that is fantastic and I'm just grateful that the bull went in. If I feel like I'm playing well and I'm confident, then anything can happen."
Green will now play Dave Chisnall for a place in the quarter-finals of the competition that is being held at the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton.
