Per Laursen was not fazed by his opponent hitting a nine-dart finish during his shock first-round victory over Terry Jenkins at the PDC World Championship.
Jenkins, who had also registered a maximum 170 checkout earlier in the match, produced the perfect leg to hold throw and level the deciding set at 1-1 on Saturday afternoon.
However, Laursen went on to win the decider 4-2 by breaking throw after Jenkins had missed three darts at doubles.
"I felt I played the best I could," the Dane told Sky Sports News. "I just thought he's going to need a nine-darter against me, but I'm over the moon.
"I was focused [after the nine-darter] and I knew that if I could play my game I would have a chance."
Laursen, who beat Northern Ireland's Colin McGarry in a first-to-four-legs preliminary contest to earn his match against Jenkins, will now face Peter Wright in round two.
