Peter Wright has prevailed in week one of the new Premier League format, defeating Jonny Clayton in the final.
Eight players will compete in 16 weekly tournaments, the victor on each night being required to win three best-of-11 matches.
Wright, the defending world champion, achieved that feat in Cardiff on Thursday, averaging in excess of 113 to post a 6-1 triumph over home favourite Clayton.
Earlier in the night, Wright had recorded a 6-3 triumph over Michael Smith, before edging out Gary Anderson in a deciding leg in the last four.
Clayton had previously defeated debutant Joe Cullen and James Wade, the latter having comfortably overcome a below-par Gerywn Price by a 6-3 scoreline in the quarter-finals.
Five-time Premier League champion Michael van Gerwen succumbed 6-4 to Anderson in the last of the quarter-final ties. body check tags ::
