Phil Taylor has admitted that he is "ashamed of himself" for his actions towards Raymond van Barneveld at the conclusion of their World Championship semi-final last night.
After Taylor had sealed a 6-4 victory over Van Barneveld, the 15-time world champion was involved in a heated exchange with the Dutchman, who was attempting to congratulate his opponent.
Taylor played down the spat in a post-match interview, but he has now revealed that he has apologised to Van Barneveld for his conduct.
He told Sky Sports News: "I reacted disgracefully. I'm ashamed of myself. I feel terrible.
"I have text Raymond. I have spoken to him. All I can do now is apologise and say that it will never happen again."
Taylor will play Michael van Gerwen in the final on New Year's Day.
