Former world champion Raymond van Barneveld admits that he enjoyed some luck on the way to beating Dave Chisnall at the World Grand Prix last night.

Raymond van Barneveld has admitted that he is pleased to have progressed to the last 16 of the World Grand Prix having been left "dead and buried" in his match against Dave Chisnall last night.

The former world champion fell a set behind in Dublin, but he soon bounced back to turn the game on its head by recording a 2-1 victory over his opponent.

"After the first set I thought I was dead and buried but I gave it all I had," Van Barneveld is quoted as saying by PDC.TV. "Maybe I had one or two lucky legs but I nicked it and I'll be back on Thursday night.

"Dave had a great first set and he's a fantastic player, but he let me in and I dug in and won. My finishing helped me, big-time, but I'll have to improve in the second round.

"I believe I'm playing well and I'm happy with this win. I'm trying to get back in the top 16 because I think I belong there, winning key tournaments."

Elsewhere, world number one Michael van Gerwen progressed to the next round, while Stephen Bunting, Peter Wright, Dean Winstanley, Mervyn King and Terry Jenkins also secured their place in the round of 16.
