Michael Smith has reached the third round of the World Championship after producing an impressive performance to see off Steve Beaton.
The former Lakeside champion averaged over 107 in taking the opening set off Smith, but the eighth seed stormed back to take the match by a 4-2 scoreline, as well as end the contest with an average of 100.3.
Smith will now play Benito van de Pas after the Dutchman fought back to see off the spirited challenge of Dimitri van den Bergh.
The young Belgian started on the front foot but Van de Pas, the 24th seed, eventually found a level of consistency that proved enough for him to run out a 4-2 victor.
Vincent van der Voort will play defending champion Gary Anderson in the last 16 after he overturned a 2-0 deficit to beat Kyle Anderson.
The fast-throwing Dutchman squandered chances to win the first two sets but he was clinical on his doubles in the second half of the match as he secured a 4-2 win over the Australian.
