James Wade survived a minor scare against Jamie Lewis to book his place in the second round of the PDC World Championship on Sunday night.
The Machine averaged 97 to take the opening set, although having missed eight darts on a double his opponent managed to level things up in the second.
Wade soon moved up another gear to see the game through, however, taking the next two sets to record a 3-1 triumph at Alexandra Palace.
Another seeded player in Dave Chisnall managed to advance, comfortably beating Ryan de Vreede 3-0 in a contest that will be best remembered for other reasons.
On numerous occasions the darts dropped out of the board, which at one point cost Chizzy a 180. The St Helens thrower had too much for his Dutch opponent, however, wrapping up the game to set up a meeting with Benito van de Pas - the man who knocked out Paul Nicholson earlier on day four.
Elsewhere, Kim Huybrechts brushed aside Michael Mansell 3-0, while Ian White advanced with a 3-1 win against preliminary qualifier John Michael in the night's final encounter.
