Scott Waites has moved one match away from claiming his second BDO world title after easing past Jamie Hughes on Saturday.
The 2013 champion had produced two stunning comebacks to reach the last four, but he made light work of fourth seed Hughes, who struggled to replicate his display in the quarter-finals.
Waites surged into a 5-0 advantage and although Hughes improved during the closing stages, he had left far too much work to do and his opponent eased over line.
His opponent in Sunday's final will be Jeff Smith after the Canadian came through an epic encounter with Richard Veenstra that almost delivered the perfect conclusion.
After a back-and-forth contest that saw both men hold the advantage at some stage in the match, Smith made his move for the finish line at 2-2 in the 11th set, after the previous 10 had been shared.
The 40-year-old nicked the fifth leg, but the drama continued in the next as Smith hit seven perfect darts before missing the eighth that would have set up a dramatic nine-darter.
Nevertheless, he completed the leg in 10 darts to reach his first World Championship final.
