Sports Mole grabs a word with English divers Nick Robinson-Baker and Freddie Woodward moments after they collected Commonwealth bronze.

England had two pairs on the podium for the Commonwealth Games men's synchronised 3m platform after Nick Robinson-Baker and Freddie Woodward claimed an unexpected bronze behind clear winners and fellow countrymen Jack Laugher and Chris Mears.

After being so close to an international medal on several occasions throughout his career, 27-year-old Robinson-Baker finally got onto the rostrum, while for 18-year-old Woodward it is potentially the first of many.

Scroll down to see what the Sheffield-based duo told Sports Mole moments after they received their medals at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.

Well done guys. Did you see that coming?

Robinson-Baker: "No, not at all! There was definitely some potential in there for a medal but I think both Freddie and I straight at the end of that agreed that it wasn't our best performance that we've done so far this season but it was still steady enough to go out there and get a Commonwealth bronze at the end of it."

Woodward: "And we've trained so consistently well for the past six months so we knew anything was possible. With that steady training, even not the best performance you can still come out with a nice medal."

Throughout the final did you know you were right up there in the mix?

Robinson-Baker: "I'm one of those athletes that likes to see what's going on. I like to know where I stand, what I need to do. Freddie's one of those ones who kind of just sits down with his headphones on. But we knew what was going on and it was a good thing because it worked out in the end."

Did you feel any pressure right at the end with the last dive?

Woodward: "Yeah. It was quite a quick competition but it felt like years long. It was a really nervous time for me obviously but it felt great throughout it. But it was long time."

Jack and Chris are right up there with the world's best. Are they spurring you on to better things?

Woodward: "Yeah obviously. They're right at the top of their game so obviously it's great to compete with them, it pushes us on. To watch them train. It's obviously where we want to be - well certainly I want to be - so yeah, it's good."
