Tom Daley describes his disrupted flight back from the FINA World Cup in Shanghai that had to be landed in Russia as "scary".

Two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist Tom Daley has admitted that his recent flight back from the FINA World Cup was "scary".

After competing in Shanghai, Daley and the rest of the Team England divers flew back for Glasgow 2014 but were forced to stop in Russia before waiting 24 hours for a flight back to the UK.

Telling reporters of the experience yesterday, Daley said: "It was scary, but we managed to get back. The most important thing is that we're here and part of Team England getting ready for the Commonwealth Games.

"It's one of those things that can happen to anyone at any point. You've got to be as prepared as you can for it and just get back as quickly and safely as we could.

"You have to prepare for anything. You can't let it get to you. You've just got to get on with what you need to do."

Daley will attempt to defend his 10m platform gold from Delhi on the final evening of diving competition at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh on Saturday, August 2.

He is not yet sure if he will be defending his 10m synchronised title.
