Oliver Dingley admits that it was "absolutely amazing" to make a successful late bid for bronze in the 3m springboard final.

Oliver Dingley has admitted that it felt "absolutely amazing" to claim bronze at the Commonwealth Games following his late response in the 3m springboard final.

The English diver was off the pace after two dives in the final, but an impressive comeback in the latter rounds allowed him to join teammate Jack Laugher on the podium.

"I knew it was a possibility. Every diver they always aim to go to their very best, and I knew that was a possibility to get a medal there. I think everyone felt the nerves," Dingley told reporters.

"I had good [preliminary dives] this morning, I dropped my last dive to put me down into 8th going to the final, but having said that I could put pressure onto the rest of the field since I was diving first, and I think it worked.

"Then I dropped my second dive, I think I was in seventh after round two, and I slowly brought it all the way back to third and I can't believe it. It's absolutely amazing."

Laugher took silver in the event, with Malaysia's Ooi Tze Liang claiming gold.
