EastEnders will tackle a sexual assault storyline involving Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter), it has been revealed.
In recent weeks, Yolande's relationship with Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler) has grown increasingly disturbing as he has touched her inappropriately on several occasions.
When she confronted him about his actions, he feigned outrage and she ultimately apologised - but things will take an even more sinister turn next week.
In an hour-long episode airing on Wednesday, Yolande finds herself alone with the Pastor in the kitchen at the Community Centre when he sexually assaults her.
The storyline - developed in conjunction with charities End Violence Against Women Coalition and Hourglass - will also include flashbacks from other women who have also experienced abuse at the hands of the Pastor.
"This is an important story that we hope will raise awareness of how women at any age can been groomed by someone in a position of power," said exec producer Chris Clenshaw.
"It was vital for us to work alongside End Violence Against Women Coalition and Hourglass to truthfully present and sensitively portray Yolande's sexual assault storyline."
The hour-long episode airs at 7.30pm on Wednesday, April 17 on BBC One. body check tags ::
