Paul Mescal's family attempting to avoid watching sex scenes

Normal People star Paul Mescal admits that his family are finding it difficult to avoid watching his on-screen sex scenes.

Normal People actor Paul Mescal has revealed that his family members are attempting to avoid watching his "sexy bits" in the teen drama.

The 24-year-old has become a breakout star following the release of the show last month, with more than 28 million requests for the programme registered on the BBC iPlayer to date.

The series has a significant number of sex scenes, with a total of 41 minutes of action across the 12 episodes, and Mescal has admitted that it is difficult for his family to watch the show without seeing more of him than they would like.

"My granny warned my great aunt that there were a lot of sexy bits and that when she felt those were about to happen she should go off and do something else," Mescal said on tonight's episode of The Graham Norton show.

"In episode two when we started kissing she took the dog out. But she underestimated the time it would take and as she came back in we were right in the throes of it all.

"I suggested that a good long chore or a couple of cups of tea would do the trick next time."

The actor has previously admitted that he has no problems watching himself have sex on screen because he has 'disassociated' himself from his character.
