Strictly Come Dancing, week four: What the judges said

:Headline: Strictly Come Dancing, week four: What the judges said: ID:422102: from db_amp
See what the judges had to say and find out how they scored the nine remaining celebrities as they took to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom for a fourth time.

What a week it's been for Strictly Come Dancing - Nicola Adams and Katya Jones were forced to drop out of the competition due to coronavirus, judge Motsi Mabuse was forced to miss the live show due to coronavirus and It Takes Two host Rylan Clark-Neal was forced to miss the spinoff show due to... umm, coronavirus.

The show must always go on, however, and tonight the nine remaining couples took to the dancefloor with the hopes of impressing judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and newcomer Anton Du Beke.

Scroll on to find out what the judges had to say and see how they scored!

HRVY and Janette Manrara

Dance: Salsa
Song: 'Dynamite' by BTS

Shirley Ballas: "He's made me hot, hot, hot. It was powerful, it was musical, you had amazing leading skills. I'm lost for words, I really am." 10/10

Anton Du Beke: "As you were dancing I was screaming 'wow, yes, yes!' Fluidity - amazing. Lifts - unbelievable. You are a dream for a partner." 9/10

Craig Revel Horwood: "I thought the footwork could be cleaner and a bit more precise. I have to agree with Anton, the lifts were absolutely perfect. And like Shirley said darling - hot, hot, hot." 8/10

Total score: 27/30

Ranvir Singh and Giovanni Pernice

Dance: Cha Cha
Song: 'Oye Como Va' / 'I Like It Like That' by Santana / Pete Rodriguez

Anton Du Beke: "I didn't like it, I absolutely loved it. You should have no inhibitions about the way you look at all - you look phenomenal." 8/10

Craig Revel Horwood: "It was a little bit laid-back for my liking. I would have liked a straighter leg and you were a little bit pigeon-toed. However your musicality is second to none darling and you were out there selling it." 5/10

Shirley Ballas: "I love the flirting and the teasing and there's a definite strong chemistry between this team for sure. Good job, you have nothing to fear - you are a beautiful long lady." 7/10

Total score: 20/30

Max George and Dianne Buswell

Dance: American Smooth
Song: 'It Had To Be You' by Harry Connick Jr

Craig Revel Horwood: "I'm disappointed, I think you played it too safe. It lacked any sense of style or flair. Your arms were extremely haphazard, your hands are like spatulas on the end of them." 5/10

Shirley Ballas: "I rather liked it, darling. Last week you came out with the tummy painted yellow like Homer, this week you came out like a dashing gentleman. Definitely still on a very good track." 7/10

Anton Du Beke: "It's difficult to ignore Craig, but it's worth persevering with. I thought it was marvellous. Your top line - wow. Your left arm is one of the best I've seen. You've taken a leaf out of Aljaz's book - the right arm's a bit limp, but we won't talk about that." 8/10

Total score: 20/30

JJ Chalmers and Amy Dowden

Dance: Jive
Song: 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy' by Bette Midler

Shirley Ballas: "You gave a feeling of celebration and I loved your package. That vertical line is insane. I loved the choreography, the way you amalgamated it for him. Some things still to work on but congratulations." 6/10

Anton Du Beke: "I agree with Shirley completely. You look so smart. Your timing was immaculate. I think you're amazing - Lance-Corporal I salute you." 7/10

Craig Revel Horwood: "The kicks and flicks need to be sharper. It was becoming very flat-footed towards the end. I loved the routine but it needs a lot more attack and a lot more energy my love." 4/10

Total score: 17/30

Maisie Smith and Gorka Marquez

Dance: Cha Cha
Song: 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun' by Cyndi Lauper

Anton Du Beke: "I had an enormous amount of fun. There's so much about that dance that was fantastic - all of the technical stuff. I'd like you to relax - you seem a bit tight and that can affect your balance." 9/10

Craig Revel Horwood: "It did look like you had a rod firmly planted through your back. You're very parallel darling. But I loved the timing, I loved the idea of the routine and the hips were absolutely spectacular." 7/10

Shirley Ballas: "I think you took the information from last week and you came back and tried to track your feet. For cha cha in the future, when you hit something sharp with your feet, the body must continue. I appreciate the improvement you made this week." 8/10

Total score: 24/30

Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse

Dance: Couple's Choice
Song: 'Rapper's Delight' by The Sugarhill Gang

Craig Revel Horwood: "The king of pop and lock. I absolutely loved the amount of detail in that. You hit every single line. Unbelievable." 8/10

Shirley Ballas: "I'm flabbergasted actually. The details come with hours and hours of work. I applaud you for that. You are genuine, you are the real deal. I am in awe, I don't know what to say." 10/10

Anton Du Beke: "When I heard that you were going to be doing hip hop, I thought this could be a midlife crisis. You were unbelievable. There was so much content in there. What I liked most about it is there wasn't any sense of irony in there - you enveloped the role and committed to it fully." 9/10

Total score: 27/30

Caroline Quentin and Johannes Radebe

Dance: Waltz
Song: 'With You I'm Born Again' by Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright

Shirley Ballas: "You've definitely got something beautiful in this team. You have the most beautiful ankle shape, so keep working on that. Along with that elegance and beauty, continue to push those feet." 7/10

Anton Du Beke: "You just look beautiful in everything you do. Beautiful rise, absolutely perfect. I would like you to cover more ground and bend your knees more. But absolute joy." 8/10

Craig Revel Horwood: "I would have liked to have seen a lot more body contact throughout but it was a beautiful, elegant performance. What I like about you is you tell the story beautifully throughout - well done." 7/10

Total score: 22/30

Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer

Dance: Samba
Song: 'Bamboleo' by Gipsy Kings

Anton Du Beke: "It was fabulous. I like to appreciate a fabulous samba. You dance so beautifully together - you are as one. That takes wonderful timing and wonderful understanding of your partner." 9/10

Craig Revel Horwood: "It made me happy. I really loved it. Fantastic." 8/10

Shirley Ballas: "I have to say it's one of the better sambas I've seen on Strictly. You are full of enthusiasm. What a wonderful team." 8/10

Total score: 25/30

Clara Amfo and Aljaz Skorjanec

Dance: Charleston
Song: 'Baby Face' by Julie Andrews

Craig Revel Horwood: "I don't want to see it again... until the final darling." 9/10

Shirley Ballas: "Oh my goodness. I haven't been your highest scorer, but the transformation... those legs of death! You were absolutely brilliant today." 10/10

Anton Du Beke: "When you rehearse a dance all week, you want it to go on Saturday night like that. Thank you very much indeed, perfect." 10/10

Total score: 29/30

The Strictly Come Dancing results show airs Sunday night at 7.25pm on BBC One.
