Channel 4 has commissioned a new docu-drama about the 'Wagatha Christie' row between Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney.
The two have been at loggerheads since 2019, when Coleen - wife of England legend Wayne Rooney - announced on social media that after a sting operation, she had determined that Rebekah's social media account was responsible for leaking stories about her to the press.
Rebekah - wife of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy - denied that she was personally responsible, saying that the leaks may have come from a third party with access to her account, but the row escalated and saw them come face to face in the High Court earlier this year.
Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama will recreate the case with actors, using the actual court room scripts to dramatise the events that unfolded.
"More outlandish than a storyline from Footballers Wives, this High Court case gripped the nation," said Alf Lawrie, head of factual entertainment at Channel 4.
"Now, using court transcripts, this factual dramatisation will allow viewers to see for themselves the courtroom drama in one of the most infamous trials of recent times, bringing to life a case that encapsulated so much about the British cultural landscape in the 21st century."
The two-part drama is expected to air on Channel 4 later this year. body check tags ::
