Coleen Rooney has agreed to take part in a new Disney+ series about the infamous 'Wagatha Christie' scandal.

The dispute began in 2019 when Coleen - wife of ex-Manchester United star Wayne Rooney - announced on social media that after a sting operation, she discovered that someone had been selling stories about her to the tabloids - and blamed "Rebekah Vardy's account".

Rebekah - wife of Leicester City hotshot Jamie Vardy - denied the allegations and a high-profile court battle ensued, culminating last month with a ruling in Coleen's favour.

A statement from Disney+ said: "The three-part series will take viewers from the circumstances that led to her infamous Instagram post that 'broke the internet' all the way to Coleen being a successful defendant.

"In a story for our times, Wagatha Christie will reveal how fiercely determined and resilient Coleen had to be in order to protect her family from the challenges presented by the traditional and social media landscapes."

The programme will feature exclusive interviews with Coleen, as well as her family and friends and other key figures involved in the trial.
