South Korean fencer Lam Shin finally had her defeat in the women's fencing semi-finals confirmed after a lengthy appeal.
Shin lost to German rival Britta Heidmann in the last second of their semi-final, but refused to accept the referee's decision.
The Korean team handed in an official written appeal after the judges backed the referee's verdict following 30 minutes of deliberation.
A further 45 minutes were required to hear the Korean's formal appeal, only for the same result to be confirmed.
Shin was left distraught with the outcome and was also handed a yellow card for refusing to leave the area.
Shin had to be helped away from the floor by her coaches and must now try to regain her composure to take part in the bronze medal match in a matter of minutes.
