Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Scottish Premiership clash between Aberdeen and Celtic, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Aberdeen shall be attempting to get back to winning ways on Wednesday when they face Celtic, after four matches in a row without three points.

However, they will have to do that by attempting to defeat the current league leaders, who have built up an impressive 15 game run without a defeat across all competitions.

Match preview

Aberdeen were defeated at the weekend against 10 man Livingston, despite a second-half goal from Christian Ramirez attempting to bring his team back into the game.

It continued their poor run of form this year, with the Dons having not won a single game in 2022 within the Scottish Premiership, with two defeats and losses so far.

However, that form has seen them slip down to the bottom half of the table, and that has put them under pressure as a defeat could see them slip as far down as 10th place.

On the flip side to that, a victory would give the Dons a chance to move further up to fifth, depending on other results, which adds an extra element of pressure to this fixture.

Aberdeen have been beaten both times that they faced the Hoops this season, with each game ending in a 2-1 defeat, which is something that they will be hoping to overcome.

However, Celtic are in strong form right now after putting together 15 matches in a row without a loss, and that has helped build them to the top of the table, which is a position they shall want to keep hold of.

There is only a single point between them and their Old Firm rivals Rangers which places a lot of pressure onto every match until they are able to grow the gap between them.

The Hoops dominated the Gers last week with an emphatic 3-0 victory which saw them become the league leaders, and they followed that up in style at the weekend with a 4-0 win.

A brace from Tom Rogic and goals by Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda helped them defeat Motherwell as they continue to be the highest-scoring team in the division.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the pitch, this marked the third game in a row that Joe Hart has kept a clean sheet, showcasing their strength defensively as well.

Team News

Gary Woods was brought into the Aberdeen team due to the fact that Joe Lewis was dealing with an illness, and he could continue to stay in goal depending on the fitness of the number one shot-stopper.

Adam Montgomery also made his debut for the Dons at the weekend, slotting into the left-back position, and he could end up keeping his place in the team once again.

Rogic marked his return from international duty in style at the weekend by scoring a brace, and he should retain his place in Celtic's starting XI as a result of his performance.

Maeda was also brought back into the team and he also got on the scoresheet to prove his quality, with the Hoops showcasing that they do not rely upon the injured Kyogo Furuhashi.

Aberdeen possible starting lineup:
Woods; Ramsay, McCrorie, Bates, Montgomery; Ojo, Ferguson; Hayes, Jenks, Besuijen; Ramirez

Celtic possible starting lineup:
Hart; Ralston, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Taylor; Hatate, McGregor, Rogic; Abada, Maeda, Giakoumakis

We say: Aberdeen 0-3 Celtic

Aberdeen have been in poor form as of late, and a fixture against the league leaders is not the easiest of games to take on next after failing to win within the division this year.

Celtic will be hoping to continue their impressive performances on Wednesday, with the Hoops heading into the game on the back of 15 without a loss, they should be set to extend that.
