A tearful Mark van Bommel has confirmed that he will be leaving AC Milan at the end of this season.
Van Bommel, 35, will return to PSV Eindhoven after a year-and-a-half's spell at the San Siro. The Dutchman will join a host of other veterans in leaving the illustrious club this summer, including Alessandro Nesta, Filipo Inzaghi and Gennaro Gattuso.
"I'm leaving Milan. I was only here a year and a half so for me it's easier to say goodbye than players like Gattuso, Nesta and Inzaghi," van Bommel told Milan's official TV channel.
"That's the way life is - the time comes when you have to leave. When I arrived here, everyone told me this club is like a family and it's true, it is.
"I will go back to Holland and I will play for PSV. Maybe one day I'll return here as a coach."
Van Bommel has made 46 appearances in his Milan career so far, picking up a Serie A title as well as an Italian Supercup in the process.
