AC Milan have reportedly submitted an improved bid for Roma defender Alessio Romagnoli.
Romagnoli played under new Rossoneri coach Sinisa Mihajlovic during their time at Sampdoria, before the 20-year-old left last season.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Milan are looking to reinforce their back line and are keen to lure the highly-rated defender to the San Siro.
Despite having previous bids rejected by the Giallorossi, it is thought that AC have returned with an offer of around €20m (£14.3m).
However, with Roma said to be holding out for nearer €30m, the Rossoneri may turn their attention to Torino's Nikola Maksimovic if they are unsuccessful in their pursuit of the youngster.
