AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has explained the reasons behind his decision to leave the club at the end of the season.
The 34-year-old will depart the Rossoneri when his contract expires in June, and he has admitted that he made the decision following the 4-2 defeat to Inter Milan in May.
"In the derby, I felt I was an ex-player. That night, I returned home and I decided to leave without talking to anyone. If I want to continue to play, I must leave this club," he told Sportitalia.
The former Italy international also reiterated his desire to return to Rangers, where he played in 1997-98.
"I have spoken with people who are interested in entering the club. This is my dream, we will see. I am not interested in money. I want something that excites me and makes me feel alive," Gattuso added.
He has 73 international caps to his name.
