Accrington Stanley have moved six points clear of the League Two relegation zone with a 5-1 victory over Morecambe at the Crown Ground this evening.
The home side took the lead in the fifth minute when Lee Molyneux latched on to James Gray's pass and chipped the ball into the net past the on-rushing keeper.
They were given the chance to score a second six minutes later following Kevin Ellison's foul inside the box on Luke Joyce.
Kal Naismith stepped up to take the spot kick and placed it into the bottom corner, with Barry Roche diving the wrong way.
Accrington continued to dominate and Gray saw his long-range effort tipped around the post, before Will Hatfield saw his strike from inside the box held by the keeper.
The home side scored a third goal in the 59th minute when Dean Winnard headed in after Peter Murphy's effort had hit the bar.
They added a fourth six minutes later through Tom Aldred, who headed in following Molyneux's corner kick.
Padraig Amond found the net for Morecambe in the closing stages, but Accrington restored their four-goal lead in the last minute through Molyneux's strike, as the home side ran out comfortable winners.
