Ajax have returned to the top of the Eredivisie table after a straightforward 2-0 win away at SBV Excelsior.
The visitors dominated proceedings early on as Riechedly Bazoer collected Arkadiusz Milik's pass four minutes in and fired just wide of the target.
Viktor Fischer was next to threaten for Ajax following an incisive through-ball from Anwar El Ghazi, but the Denmark international saw his effort saved by Filip Kurto.
The deadlock was eventually broken in the 34th minute when El Ghazi collected the ball, burst through the Excelsior defense and rifled home his seventh goal of the season, before Milik added a second just before the break.
Ajax continued to probe in the second half and came within a whisker of notching up a third goal through Milik three minutes from time, but his lob over Kurto was hacked off the line.
The result sees Frank de Boer's side leapfrog PEC Zwolle and Heracles to retake first place in the Dutch top flight, while Excelsior remain 15th in the table.
