Ajax secured a last-gasp 2-1 win away at Go Ahead Eagles in this afternoon's Eredivisie clash at De Adelaarshorst.
The first chance of the game fell to the visitors as Anwar El Ghazi forced a block with a shot from the edge of the box.
Ajax went on to break the deadlock in the 24th minute, with Ricardo Kishna powering down the flank before cutting the ball back to El Ghazi, who had the simple task of prodding home from close range.
Go Ahead levelled proceedings midway through the second half when Sjoerd Overgoor let rip with a shot from 25 yards that flew into the top corner.
Just as it seemed as though the hosts would hold on for a precious draw against difficult opposition, Wesley Verhoek scuffed the ball into his own net just three minutes before time to gift Ajax all three points.
The result means that Ajax build up a five-point lead over third-placed Feyenoord, though they are still a considerable distance behind leaders PSV Eindhoven. Go Ahead remain just outside the relegation zone.
