Joel Veltman has signed a new four-year deal with Dutch champions Ajax.
The 21-year-old, who won three caps for the Dutch Under-19s, broke into the first team this year, making seven appearances.
Director of football Marc Overmars said that the new agreement is a signal of the confidence that they have in the defender.
"He is a talented defender with the right attitude," Overmars told ajax.nl. "He is definitely a player with potential.
"After several talks with his management company EFM International and Joel, we have come up with the deal.
"The confidence we have in him at Ajax has come reflected in this new agreement."
Veltman made his debut for the club in a 6-1 win at NEC Nijmegen last August.
