Argentina legend Diego Maradona was admitted to hospital on Sunday suffering with kidney stones.
The 51-year-old is currently the head coach of UAE club Al Wasl.
"He felt pain this morning so he was sent to a private hospital in Dubai this afternoon. He will be operated on this evening and he is expected to be discharged tomorrow," read an Al Wasl statement.
Maradona won a host of honours during his 21-year playing career, including the 1986 World Cup.
