Argentina head coach Gerardo Martino claimed that Angel di Maria is one of the best players in the world after watching the midfielder play a key role in the win over Germany on Wednesday.
Di Maria, who recently joined Manchester United from Real Madrid, created three goals and scored another as Argentina recorded 4-2 victory over the world champions in Dusseldorf, and Martino was understandably pleased with his players.
"Angel di Maria has demonstrated why he is one of the five best players in the world," the former Barcelona manager told reporters following his first game in charge of Argentina since replacing Alejandro Sabella.
"I am very satisfied with my team because we had a few players who have not had as much match practice."
Germany had previously enjoyed 15 months without losing.
