Argentina head coach Alejandro Sabella was eager to remain positive after his side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Germany in the World Cup final on Sunday night.
Sabella's side missed a number of good opportunities before Mario Gotze secured the win for Germany in extra time, but the Argentina boss paid tribute to the squad for their performances in Brazil.
"These are very close matches and when you make a mistake, you know it's difficult to turn it around, but in general terms I'm very proud and my boys played an extraordinary World Cup," Sabella told reporters.
"It was very exciting to see them play and it's clear they gave everything for the Argentine jersey. They can look themselves in the mirror and know they gave everything.
"I congratulate my players for their extraordinary work, and also congratulate Germany on winning the title."
Sabella is expected to leave his role after failing to lift the trophy in Brazil.
