Champions League semi-finals 'to go ahead as planned'

:Headline: Champions League semi-finals 'to go ahead as planned':
UEFA reportedly intends to let European Super League rebels Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City continue to compete in this year's Champions League.

Next week's Champions League semi-finals will reportedly go ahead as planned, despite the growing threat of breakaway teams being booted out of the competition.

It was confirmed late on Sunday that 12 teams have signed up to form a new competition - the European Super League - that will rival the Champions League.

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has described the dozen clubs taking part as "snakes and liars", while hinting that those involved will be banned from UEFA's flagship club tournament.

However, ESPN reports that ESL rebels Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City will be allowed to finish this season's competition, with those three sides and Paris Saint-Germain through to next week's semi-finals.

The same is also said to be the case in the Europa League, where Arsenal's semi with Villarreal will also be given the green light to be staged, despite the Gunners also being part of the ESL proposals.
